Words Create Worlds
I had a conversation yesterday with a client turned mentor and friend, Anuh’et. It’s changing how I think about building my business. She challenged me: there are many ways you can grow, but what matters most is staying in alignment with who you are. You don’t have to dilute that and revert back to the old ways of doing things. Share who you are fully, and watch the right people be drawn in.
It’s not just the doing, doing, doing. It’s about BEing in coherence. Even more, it’s about what we speak.
Words create worlds.
This idea shows up everywhere when you start looking for it.
Proverbs says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” In Vedic philosophy, speech isn’t just communication — it’s a creative force that brings things into form. Buddhist teachings emphasize Right Speech because words can heal or deeply wound. Indigenous traditions see language as a manifestation of spirit, part of how we stay in relationship with everything around us.
And during a time of year when so many of us are focused on setting goals, intentions, and manifestations, this matters. Yes, actions can shape our lives. But what if the words we spoke to ourselves, and those around us, actually have the power to create?
What are you speaking to yourself silently throughout the day? What stories and words are on repeat in your mind?
I’ve recently caught myself multiple times telling people, “I’ve always had a bad memory,” or, “Maybe it’s perimenopause (and maybe it is), but my memory is horrible.” It’s a small example, but I have to wonder: is putting this on repeat in my mind helping me? Probably not.
And if this is true in small things, what about the bigger stories we tell ourselves? What if the stories we told ourselves were less detrimental and more constructive? What if all the goals you put on your vision board, you started speaking about? What if we can be a part in architecting our lives?
“I am active, strong, and have a sharp memory.”
“I have the ability and skill to learn everything I need in order to ______.”
“I am magnetic to the people and opportunities that are aligned with my vision.”
I’m not suggesting this in the old “name it, claim it” fashion.
I’m suggesting that, just like when we see a gift in a child or a team member at work, we pour as much water and sunshine on that seed as humanly possible. We speak about it out loud, name what we see in your mind’s eye, nurture the idea, the truth… and eventually it takes root.
And almost like some sort of magic, it starts sprouting. Then it bears fruit.
So as we head into a new year, I’m getting intentional about the words I’m using.
I’m a woman who is living fully aligned. I’m constantly seeking ways to stay connected with what brings me joy and makes me feel more alive. In doing this, I draw in the right people… the right clients, the right relationships, and the right opportunities. I provide the best of the best in my industry. This is what I mean by luxury made human. Exceptional service with an approachable spirit.
And a quick note: there’s a reason we do this work annually — or hopefully more often.
Because we’re ever evolving.
As we grow, as things change, as life changes, I’m continuing to live open-handedly and ask: How can I be more fully aligned? How can I show up more outwardly as who I am on the inside?
You’ll probably continue to see small shifts here and there that are a reflection of that evolution.
And for you…if your words create worlds, what world will you choose to create?
Here’s to creating the world you’re dreaming of.
With love and abundance in the new year,
Jen
