The Minneapolis Edit

Hey Twin Cities! We’re doing it… you know… the long winter, melting ice, being the North Star in so may ways. Anyhow, I continue to be incredibly proud of our community and so thankful to live here. Glad you’re here with me!

This week on tap, we’ve got:

  • A new development downtown that could have long term impacts

  • A smattering of events (and a couple mentioned that support local mutual aid)

  • And per usual “deep thoughts by Jen”

  • Always a wrap up with horrid jokes

As always, if there are events I should know about or ways we can support one another, please shoot me a message. We’re here, and in this together! xoxo - Jen

Local Development

Minneapolis is Cozying up to Data Centers

Match made in heaven or situationship with red flags?

The $235M Building Downtown That Could Lower Your Property Tax Bill ... We Need Ask the Right Questions First

You've watched your property tax bill climb for years. You're not imagining it. Homeowners in Minneapolis now shoulder over 53% of the total tax burden. Up 6% since 2020 largely because downtown commercial properties lost 22% in assessed value when offices emptied out. That gap went straight to you.

So when a $235M data center moves into the old Sleep Number HQ at 1001 3rd Ave. S., the promise of fresh tax revenue feels like a genuine exhale.

But before we pop champagne, let's ask what we're trading for it. There are potential long term health, community, and moral implications on the line.

From The Founder

We’re Done

We’re done. Done waiting on empty promises shoveled like scraps from the higher‑ups. They vow to fix the problem and save the day, while they center themselves, mouths wide, under the funnel they built, feasting on everything their entitlement claims they deserve to master: money, women, innocence, land.

We’re not waiting anymore.
We’re not allowing it anymore.
We’re not sleepwalking through the nightmare they’ve narrated.

There’s a holy “hell no” rising in the ones with eyes to see and ears to hear. And yes, we’ve counted the cost. We’ve paid the price for generations, sometimes as the very sacrifices laid on the altar and burned at the stake.

We’re not outsourcing our authority anymore. Real power and permission were always within. So to every system, rule, religion, or dear leader who calls us silly, stupid, or sinful for daring to tip their tower of cards, in the words of my iPhone autocorrect, “Duck you.”

We’re not looking at you doe‑eyed for a green light, because when we look at each other, we remember, we never needed it.

We’re circling up like the magicians we are. Like‑minded, like‑hearted. Trusting the knowing in our bodies, taking our marching orders from Her. And mirroring Mother Nature, we don’t resuscitate what’s meant to die. We hold space, weave magic, honor wisdom, and protect what’s sacred.

We’re done with the old. We’re building the new.

Come on in. The water’s warm.

Because terrible puns are a public service

THIS WEEK'S BAD JOKES

🛳 Why don’t pirates take a shower before they walk the plank?
Because they’ll just wash up on shore later.

🐟 Why don’t fish play piano?
Because you can’t tuna fish.

🕰 Why did the clock get kicked out of school?
Because it was always tocking back.
