The Minneapolis Edit

Morning neighbors and friends,
It’s taken me a couple of weeks to get my bearings. I’ve learned about myself that I need to witness enough of what’s happening before I have anything aligned or meaningful to say.
Right now, and likely for the foreseeable future, t’s not business as usual.
I can’t quite bring myself to do an entirely silly review of a local pub (though I do think laughter is a necessary reprieve, which is why I still tucked a few bad jokes at the end).
A few days ago, I was free-writing when the words for this reel came through. It was the only thing that felt right to share. I had no idea it would travel the way it did, and since then I’ve found myself asking: why this? what struck a chord?
I have ideas… but in some ways, it doesn’t matter.
What matters is doing the next thing that feels right.
For today, that’s this.
Ways We Can Show Up
Ways We Can Show Up
1. Share stories of courage and care
What restaurants, neighbors, teachers, local officials, organizers, anyone, are you seeing show up in quiet or extraordinary ways? I’d like to highlight these stories.
People need beacons right now. Examples. North stars.
If there’s a story we should help shine a light on, please reply to this email and tell me about it.
2. Support organizations doing on-the-ground work
Below is a non-exhaustive list of places supporting families, immigrants, and communities across Minnesota. This includes legal aid, food distribution, rapid response, and mutual aid.
If you know of others, send them my way, I’m happy to help build and share a more centralized list.
🔹 Broad Mutual Aid & Resource Directories
(Best starting point — updated regularly)

They’ve shared drop-off locations and lists of most-needed items for supporting families and mutual aid efforts in their posts.

They’ve publicly shared they’re accepting shelf-stable food donations like pasta, rice, canned goods, beans, baby formula, and menstrual products — all to support families in need.
Metta Coffee (Donation Details)
📍 Metta Coffee inside Avant Garden
215 E Main St, Anoka, MN 55303
👉 https://www.mettacoffee.com/What they’ve asked for:
Shelf-stable food (pasta, rice, beans, canned goods)
Baby formula
Menstrual products (pads/tampons)
Donations are ongoing — the drive runs “as long as it’s needed” per their announcements.
This is a locally trusted distribution point connected to broader mutual aid supply efforts in the North Metro.
Bad Wolf — Local Collection Point
The business named Badwolf Adventure Studios itself appears to be a tabletop gaming space in Coon Rapids (not a traditional mutual aid org), but local community members have been indicating it’s being used as an informal drop-off point for donations — especially nearby supplies like non-perishable food or goods when drives are being planned.
Badwolf Adventure Studios
📍 3015 Coon Rapids Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN

📘 Instagram: (search Badwolf Adventure Studios MN)⚠️ Important note: There’s no central nonprofit site or formal donation program posted on their website (as of current info). If people plan to drop off goods there, it’s best to confirm via their IG/phone/email that they’re currently accepting supplies as part of a mutual aid or community drive — since this tends to be organized informally and can change.
(Many neighborhood-level funds and drop-off locations are listed and updated via Stand With Minnesota above.)
Restaurants raising thousands of dollars to feed people afraid to go to work.
Police standing alongside citizens, rebuilding trust, healing a broken divide.
In a city that’s been through so much in the last five years, our resilience is on full display. And Minnesotans are no strangers to hardship. We take strolls in snow squalls, eat lutefisk and we’re descendants of Vikings, hardy is kind our brand.
But strong doesn’t mean fearless. It’s been scary here. In Minneapolis, in our suburbs, small towns, and rural farms we’re feeling the pain of this government overreach.
It’s the acts of quiet courage, in the face of fear, that have us most proud.
Neighbors looking out for each other.
On night watch.
Delivering food.
Offering rides to work.
Showing up in solidarity.
What they didn’t expect? People across the aisle are uniting in new ways for the first time. Because beneath our differences, we share the same human fears and desires.
We’re stepping outside of boxes and labels. Not because a political argument was convincing, but because our hearts can’t be convinced that what we’re witnessing is moral or just.
So here we are, thrust onto a stage we didn’t ask to center. And if they meant to make an example out of us, they did.
We’re standing united with love, and courage, and just the right amount of piss and vinegar. For our liberties, for our neighbors, and our basic humanity.
We’re proud of Minneapolis. Proud of Minnesota. And proud to be fighting for the America we believe in 🤍
Not to make light of anything — just to lighten the load.
THIS WEEK'S BAD JOKES
❄️ Why do Minnesotans never panic in a crisis?
Because we’ve already survived a surprise blizzard in April.
🧣 I tried to organize my winter clothes.
Turns out they’re all just layered issues.
☕ Winter is when my coffee and I finally agree.
Neither of us wants to be iced
💌 Lastly, and this feels slightly odd to say, but still important. I am still working with clients. If you know someone navigating housing changes or uncertainty right now, I’m here to help in whatever way I can.
