The Minneapolis Edit

Hey friends —
This week’s edition of The Minneapolis Edit is a little snapshot of who we are right now.
A restaurant that perfectly captures the no-fuss shift in Twin Cities dining.
A study that confirms something we’ve all felt in our bones: we walk fast.
And a real estate market update that cuts through the noise and focuses on what actually matters heading into the next stretch of the year.
If you’re living here, thinking about living here, or just trying to keep up with what’s changing — you’re in the right place. Let’s get into it.
Local Flavor
Mothership Pizza Paradise: One of 2025’s Best New Restaurants

If there’s one restaurant that captures the vibe of the Twin Cities right now, it’s Mothership Pizza Paradise. Recently named one of Mpls.St.Paul Magazine’s Best New Restaurants of 2025, it’s retro-future, joy-forward, and refreshingly unserious — in the best way.
From hot honey garlic knots to pizzas named after the staff’s moms, this is less about trends and more about how a confident food city feeds itself.
Minnesotan Brag
Minneapolis–St. Paul Is One of the Fastest-Walking Cities in the Country

This one made me laugh because it feels aggressively accurate. According to Strava data, the Twin Cities rank among the fastest-walking metros in the U.S. — and if you live here, you already know the exact walker I’m talking about.
What this says about our culture, our pace, and how we move through the city is more interesting than it sounds.

Simple Truths
I feel like I should have a holiday message for you, but I don’t. This is what’s on my mind today. But maybe this is a good time of year to consider what it means to live your simple truths. So, here we are.
I was recently talking with a friend about, well… life.
He shared that nearly two decades had gone by without fully telling the truth about who he was, to himself or to the people closest to him. He grew up in a restrictive environment, and it wasn’t until his 30s that he felt safe admitting small things. That he enjoyed a whiskey every once in a while. That he liked a certain kind of music.
Nothing dramatic. Nothing harmful. Just… true.
This is what I’ve come to call self-abandonment, and it was a huge part of my own growth journey over the last several years. Reclaiming and uncovering those parts of me I’d forgotten or neglected. Often, the ways we abandon ourselves aren’t loud or intentional. They’re subtle. Easy to justify. Maybe we defer to other people’s preferences (ahem — kids). Maybe we’re too tired to even ask ourselves what we actually want.
But those small things, those simple truths when left unspoken, start to pile up.
My friend called them little lies. And while he didn’t consider himself a liar, that framing helped him feel the weight of it. Not in a shame-filled way, but in a clarifying one. It made the case for telling the simple truths more often. Consistently. Kindly. Without apology.
Regaining the full truth of who we are… oof. The pressure to conform can be real. To be smaller. Easier. More palatable. To make others comfortable at our own expense.
But if you know me at all, you know this: I’ll always be your biggest advocate for owning and embodying the simple truths that make you uniquely you.
So during this season when we’re bending toward family in a thousand small ways, maybe steal away a few minutes to enjoy something that’s just very you.
Real Estate Market Update
The Fed, Housing, and the 2026 Question: Why the Market Feels Stuck and Where Opportunity is Emerging

If you’ve been paying attention to the news lately, it probably feels like everyone is talking about the same two things: the Federal Reserve cutting rates, and what that might mean for housing heading into 2026.
On the surface, it sounds simple. Lower rates should help affordability. More affordability should help the housing market move again.
But when you zoom out — and then zoom back in — the reality is more nuanced.
